prof. Dr. Ufuk Kocabas, He is the Head of the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at Istanbul University, and the Head of the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Underwater Cultural Relics, which he founded. He is still the head of the Yenikapı Shipwrecks Excavation and Conservation project on behalf of Istanbul University.

His scholarly work has focused on underwater archeology, conservation of underwater cultural heritage, and ancient shipbuilding techniques.

Between 2010-2014, Member of the Istanbul No. 2 Regional Council for Conservation of Cultural Heritage;

Between 2014 and 2017, he served as the deputy chairman of the Concrete Cultural Heritage Specialization Committee of the UNESCO Türkiye National Commission.

He is still a member of UNESCO Türkiye National Commission Underwater Cultural Heritage Monitoring Group.

Author of the books “Conservation of Archaeological Underwater Remains” and “The Gate to the Past: Yenikapı Shipwrecks”; He is the editor of Yenikapı Shipwrecks, Yenikapı's Old Ships. He has over 100 scientific articles and conferences in the field of underwater archeology and protection of underwater cultural heritage.
