About the Journal

Journal of Visualized Archeology (JOVA) is an international peer-reviewed video journal covering archeology and related sciences published three times a year. JOVA aims to reach scientists working on archeology such as archaeologists, historians, art historians, archaeometrists, cultural heritage management specialists, epigraphers, scientists, cultural heritage management specialists, conservators.

Within JOVA, in addition to the information obtained from excavations, surface surveys and laboratory research, subjects such as technical and methodological studies related to the science of archeology, book reviews can also be published.

Purpose and Scope

  • JOVA is a video magazine that will publish in the fields of archeology. In the journal, it is aimed to narrate the articles as a video by the author or authors themselves.
  • Author(s), max. In 20-minute video shoots, they will have the chance to explain the article topics with visuals. In addition, the reader will have the chance to get to know the author(s) closely. In addition to the video, the article will also include a text section for easy reference.

  • Each article will be published with a DOI number.
  • Another innovation is that the articles will be published immediately after the referee process is completed, without waiting for the other articles to be collected. Thus, authors will have full-text published articles quickly without wasting time.
  • The journal will be published three times a year: January, May and September. At the end of each semester, all of the articles in the relevant volume will be collected and published as an issue. In order to be able to cite the article, the article will also be included in the full text.
  • In JOVA, scientific studies will take place on subjects related to the science of archeology, from prehistoric times to the present. In addition, the journal will include book introductions, news and latest discoveries about the science of archeology.
