Carlos Márquez is Professor at the University of Córdoba, where he obtained the post
of Professor of Classical Archaeology in 2009. Previously, his training was developed in
Rome during the years 1989-1990 as a scholarship holder of the Consejo Superior de
Investigaciones Científicas in Rome and in 1995 as a scholarship holder of the
Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of the Federal Republic of Germany (University
of Cologne).
His main research topic is Roman archaeology, where he has participated in projects in
Spain and Italy with the aim of understanding the urban planning of Roman cities based
on the testimony of architectural elements; in recent years he has dedicated his research
to Roman architecture and sculpture thanks to several research projects financed by the
Ministry of Universities and the Bilbao-Vizcaya Bank Foundation, the result of which is
the virtual recovery of many pieces and buildings in Roman Cordoba through the
application of new technologies. His work includes the following:
